A strong low pressure system will pass by the area on Thursday, accompanied by strong winds with gusts around or over 40 mph. Early morning showers will taper to stray showers and storms the remainder of the day, though most areas will be dry most of the time. Any storms that do form during the afternoon may tap into and enhance the background winds, leading to an isolated severe threat. Winds will diminish late in the day and into the nighttime hours. Temperatures will mainly be in the mid 70s with some warmer pockets in the afternoon, then fall to the upper 50s and low 60s overnight.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)

Mostly cloudy.

Scattered rain showers. Maybe a thunderstorm.

South winds 15-20 mph. Gusts to 40 mph.

Temperatures in the mid 60s.

Morning (7-11 AM)

More clouds than sun.

Scattered rain showers. Maybe a thunderstorm. Less rain during the second half of the morning.

Southwest winds 15-20 mph. Gusts 35-45 mph.

Temperatures rise to the low 70s with some mid 70s along and north of the Thruway.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Mixed skies.

A couple isolated thunderstorms developing, especially over the northern half of the region.

Southwest winds 15-20 mph. Gusts 35-45 mph.

Temperatures mainly in the mid 70s.

Afternoon (1-5 PM)

Mixed skies.

A few stray showers and storms.

West winds 15-20 mph. Gusts to 40 mph.

Temperatures mainly in the mid 70s with some warmer pockets up to 80 degrees, especially in the Southern Tier.

Late Afternoon (5-7 PM)

Mixed skies.

A few stray showers and storms, mainly over the southern half of the region.

West winds around 15 mph. Gusts to 35 mph but dropping further late.

Temperatures in the low and mid 70s.

Evening (7-11 PM)

Mixed skies.

A few scattered showers.

West winds 10-15 mph.

Temperatures fall to the mid 60s.

Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)

Mixed skies.

A few scattered showers.

West winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s.
