After a cold front touches off a few showers on Friday, mainly over the Southern Tier, a period of dry weather will build in. Humidity will be low this weekend, but will increase along with the temperatures next week. A weak cold front next Tuesday night looks dry at this time, with a chance for the entire week to remain rain-free.

Please note: Updates over the coming week will be more sporadic than usual as I care for some family members. In particular, I am not planning to do the evening weather planner updates, and morning updates may be missed on several days. Zip-code forecasts, as always, should remain updated. I should be back on a regular schedule the following week. As you will see in this post, the weather is nicely cooperating with my scheduling conflicts and looks rather quiet next week.

Friday

What: Some rain showers

A cold front will move through this morning. The early morning radar is clear, but there may still be a few showers along the front. Additional showers and maybe a thunderstorm may pop up during the afternoon, mainly over the Southern Tier. Many areas will not see any rain today.

Winds will be from the northwest, then north, with speeds around 5 mph. Temperatures will be knocked back to the upper 70s and low 80s, though it will still be muggy until dewpoints approaching 70 degrees until they start to retreat some late in the day.

Friday night should be partly cloudy. Lows will be in the low and mid 60s.

Saturday

What: Increasing sun.

Saturday morning will start dry with a mix of sun and clouds. By the afternoon, skies should become mostly sunny. A slight haze in the sky is likely due to some smoke from Canadian wildfires. Air quality will be slightly reduced, but should stay in the Yellow range with Air Quality Index values less than 100. The smoke may make for a more dramatic sunset, though.

Afternoon highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s with a low dewpoints in the 50s. Winds will be out of the north around 10 mph. Saturday night will be clear with lows mainly in the mid and upper 50s.

Sunday

What: Sunny, a few clouds.

High pressure will pass overhead on Sunday, keeping winds light and variable. Sunshine will be abundant with just some thin clouds. Smoke should be reduced from Saturday with air quality getting back close to normal. Temperatures will be around 80, but humidity will remain comfortably low with dewpoints staying in the 50s. Sunday night will have some thin clouds with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.

Monday

What: Sun and clouds

There is still a very small chance for a shower or storm on Monday, but as of Friday, the activity was mainly expected to stay far to the north over Canada, leaving our area dry. Temperatures will make it into the mid 80s with humidity increasing a little with dewpoints around 60. Winds will be from the west and southwest at 5-10 mph.

Tuesday

What: Sun and clouds.

Warm, dry weather is expected on Tuesday with highs pushing to around 90 degrees. The increase in humidity will be noticeable with dewpoints in the mid and upper 60s. While unlikely, a few showers or thunderstorms cannot be totally ruled out Tuesday night as a cold front passes through. Rain is not currently expected, though.

Wednesday

What: Sun and clouds.

Tuesday night’s cold front will only have a slight impact, knocking temperatures back to the mid 80s. Dewpoints will not change much, remaining in the 60s. Skies will be sunny with a few clouds. If the front is slower, there may be more clouds or even a stray shower early, but this is not expected at this time.

Thursday

What: Sun and clouds.

Dry weather will likely persist, though by this point in time, a few outlier models are showing rain. This is most likely just noise on the models that can be ignored at this time. Temperatures will slide back another couple degrees for highs in the low 80s.

Next Week Weekend

A weather system may pass through next weekend. Most, but not all models bring rain into the area. It is far too early to speculate much on specifics, but if it does not rain, we may need to start monitoring for pre-drought conditions.
