This forecast update was mainly used to start nailing down some of the finer details of the active weather this weekend. Here are the updates you need to know:
- The western Finger Lakes have a much better chance at seeing steady light rain this evening that the eastern Finger Lakes. Each model of course differs on exactly where the cut off is between stead rain and a few showers, but it seems like areas west of Canadaigua Lake have a solid shot at a showery evening, while areas south and east of Owasco lake may only see a couple spotty showers.
- As low pressure starts to develop off the Mid Atlantic coast tonight, the rain will lessen across western and central New York and instead redevelop to the southeast. Showers will remain, and some places may get locked in the showers for a while on Saturday, but looking at the region as a whole, it shouldn’t be too bad. overnight into Saturday,
- Snow will start to mix in late Saturday afternoon over the higher elevations. Precipitation will become mostly snow Saturday night into early Sunday, but by then, most of the region will be precipitation free.
- Temperatures are a bit uncertain (hence the * mark), but should generally be around the forecast ranges.
