Late Week Weather
Temperatures will continue to rise in the Finger Lakes as high pressure remains parked along the Mid-Atlantic coast.
Warm air on the backside of the high will increase over the area for a couple more days before the pattern makes some slight shifts.
Even today, though, will not be exactly the same as the last number of days.
Skies are starting out clear and will remain as such into the midday hours. Then, a deck of thin clouds will move in from the west, gradually filtering the sunshine. No precipitation is expected.
Many areas will be near or above 80 degrees today. As usual, the warmest area will be roughly along I-90, where a few mid 80s will be possible.
Clouds will continue to thicken tonight, holding temperatures mostly in the mid and upper 50s overnight.
Filtered sunshine is expected tomorrow with a small chance for a few showers. Most areas will probably not see rain, though.
Highs on Thursday will add a couple more degrees, with low and mid 80s region-wide.
Friday will likewise have clouds and some sun, but little to no rain. Temperatures will start the day near 60 and top out in the low and mid 80s once again. Dewpoints during the afternoon will rise to the 60s, making it feel a bit muggy.
Rain Chances
The chances for rain will increase this weekend and into next week, but temperatures will generally remain warm.
Saturday will have a few scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Once again, most areas will probably see little to no rain.
With the clouds and scattered showers, highs will be in the upper 70s.
Sunday has a better chance for afternoon thunderstorms as an impulse of atmospheric energy drops south through the region. The timing of this impulse will influence the extent of the thunderstorm development and remains at least somewhat uncertain at this time.
Temperatures on Sunday should push back into the low 80s, though again, the timing of the disturbance will have a key role.
Monday will have temperatures closer to the seasonal averages with highs in the mid 60s behind Sunday’s disturbance. The temperature will jump right back up into the 70s on Tuesday, though, with some scattered showers or storms possible late in the day.
The middle of next week also looks unsettled with some additional rain chances. Temperatures will remain warm.
