Weekend Weather Forecast
A slow-moving area of low pressure will keep our weather unsettled until high pressure builds in on Sunday.
Scattered rain showers are about the region this morning and will persist on and off through today, tonight, and into Saturday.
It will not be raining the whole time in any given location and there may be some extended dry periods mixed in with the showers.
Showers will be more favored over western areas through the day Friday, then over southeastern areas Friday night and early Saturday. Just a few lingering stray showers are expected Saturday afternoon.
Winds will be light throughout this time period, though the directions will shift. Expect southerly winds Friday, nearly calm winds Friday night, and northerly winds on Saturday.
Temperatures will be steady, with morning lows in the mid 30s and afternoon highs ranging from the mid 40s to near 50 degrees. Most areas will end up in the upper 40s.
Clouds and perhaps some spits of drizzle will be possible Saturday night and even early Sunday morning. As a whole, Sunday will have more clouds, but there will be some breaks of sun here and there as well.
Winds will remain northerly on Sunday. Wind speeds will rise slightly during the midday and early afternoon hours, particularly for areas east of Seneca Lake. A few gusts to 25 mph will be possible.
The lack of rain and occasional breaks of sun will help temperatures overcome the north wind and top out in the mid 50s.

Weather Next Week
Dry weather will persist into Monday as temperatures continue to rise. Highs will top out in the mid 60s for the warmest day of the week (by far).
There will be some sunshine, especially early in the day, with clouds increasing through the afternoon. Winds will be out of the south, remaining light.
Rain will move in Monday evening and overnight, with winds turning to the west and increasing.
Scattered showers will linger into Tuesday with strong winds potentially gusting over 40 mph, still from the west.
Cooler air will move in on these winds, with highs likely coming in the late morning or midday hours just a few degrees above the morning lows around 50 degrees.
Temperatures will fall to near 30 degrees Tuesday night, turning rain showers to snow showers. These will persist into Wednesday morning before tapering off. Winds will remain strong through the day with highs in the low and mid 40s.
That system will depart by Thursday, leaving some sunshine in its wake with temperatures bumping back up into the low 50s.
Another cool weather system will move in for next weekend, keeping temperatures down and precipitation in the forecast. Some overnight snow may be possible, though accumulations would be unlikely.
Models are hinting at a warmer end to April after next weekend.
