A large area of high pressure along the spine of the Appalachian Mountains is bringing summer like heat and humidity to the eastern two-thirds of the United States.
A weak, slow moving disturbance is over the Finger Lakes this morning and will only slowly drift towards the east.
The weather today will vary greatly from location to location as a disturbance tracks north-northeast out of Pennsylvania towards western New York.
While not the most extreme heat of the year, this stretch of summer will be the most persistent so far in 2015.
