Hot and Humid Monday
Temperatures are off and running Monday morning on their way to another hot and humid afternoon.
High temperatures today should at least match, if not rise a couple degrees above Sunday afternoon’s highs.
For most of the Finger Lakes, this means temperatures will top out near 90 degrees, with low 90s in the northern Finger Lakes and upper 80s in the normally cooler higher elevations further south.
Dew points will push into the upper 60s, making it feel like the low and even mid 90s.
A few places may challenge record highs today as well. Geneva’s record is just 90 degrees while Ithaca’s is 91 degrees, both set in 1973.

Temperatures Retreat Behind Front
An area of high pressure from Canada will track southeast towards New England tonight and Tuesday. Winds ahead of this high will be from the north in direct competition with the southerly flow around another area of high pressure off the East Coast.
The result of this clash of airmasses will be a cold front that will sink south across the Finger Lakes on Tuesday morning.
Only a few scattered showers are expected along the front due to its timing during the morning hours. Some areas will miss out on seeing rain all together, and those that do see showers will likely only see minor amounts of rain.
The cooler air will move into the Finger Lakes on gentle north winds Tuesday afternoon with increasing amounts of sun. The sun should stay out for Wednesday and most of Thursday as well.
Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s on Tuesday and mid 70s on Wednesday. Some low 80s may return on Thursday as winds swing back towards the south as the Canadian high passes by.
The next and best chance for rain this week will come on Friday as warm air tries to push back towards the Finger Lakes. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are currently expected.
