Temperatures Dip Slightly Friday
Friday will still be a very nice day in the Finger Lakes with well above normal temperatures, but it will not end up quite as warm as recent days or what is expected this weekend.
A shift in the wind to a more northwesterly direction is responsible for the reversal of the warming trend.
High pressure is building into Ohio today on its track eastward. The clockwise flow of air around the high is bringing some cooler air overtop of the high into the Finger Lakes.
With the high pressure in the area though, it will be another sunny day in the Finger Lakes. Clouds will be hard to come by and precipitation chances are at zero.
Temperatures are starting the day in the 40s and will warm into the mid 60s this afternoon. Evening temperatures tonight will fall back into the 50s.
The average high for this time of the year is in the upper 50s.
Winds will be less today compared to yesterday, but could still gust over 20 mph at times.
No time to rest: Multiple weather hazards expected Tuesday (wind, snow, flooding)
Wind warnings, watches, and advisories are in effect for the entire region for Tuesday, but areas of flooding and some snow will also be hazards to watch for. … Read More
Warmer for the Weekend
By the weekend, high pressure will have moved to a new position off the coast of the Mid-Atlantic.
With the high to our southeast, winds will turn back to the south on the backside of the high. This will mean warmer temperatures with 70s returning to the Finger Lakes.
Saturday will have morning lows mostly in the 40s as the warmer air just starts to work in. Sunday morning will be milder, with lows in the 50s.
Both Saturday and Sunday should have high temperatures generally pushing into the mid 70s.
A few places may stick in the low 70s on Saturday with a few upper 70s possible on Sunday.
Skies will remain sunny and precipitation-free. Winds will be light both days as well.
The nice weather should continue into Monday before a windy, rainy day on Tuesday.
