Showers and a few flurries
This post will be a bit shorter than normal. I am writing this at about 1:30 am following numerous hours of live blogging updates during Sunday night’s severe weather threat. In fact, the thunder is still rumbling here in Groton!
By now though, cold air has worked back into the Finger Lakes. Temperatures will start the day around 40 degrees but will slip back into the upper 30s as the day goes on.
Periods of rain showers are likely. Some areas will even see some snow mix in. No accumulations are expected.
Winds will gust between 30-40 mph from the northwest.
Skies will start to clear this evening as high pressure passes by to the south.
Tuesday will be sunny with lighter winds. Warmer air will slowly start to seep back north with highs returning to the low and mid 50s.
More sunshine and warm air are likely Wednesday as highs approach 60 degrees.
Late in the week, we will come under influence of another large and powerful storm system. Like this weekend, severe weather will become widespread across the eastern half of the nation. It is too early to tell what, if any, threat we will have here in the Finger Lakes.
In any event, temperatures should get a further boost back into the 60s at least for the end of the week.
