Sunny and Dry
The weather forecast today holds more of the same with high pressure along the coast of Delaware retaining control of our region.
Sunshine this morning will mix with fair weather clouds during the midday and afternoon hours. A stray shower here and there will be possible, but most areas will remain dry.
High temperatures will continue their upward trend and will be about ten degrees above the seasonal average today. That means mid and upper 70s throughout the region this afternoon.
Humidity levels will remain low with dewpoints sticking to the 40s once again today. Winds will also remain light, with speeds near or under 5 mph and variable directions.
Fewer places will fall into the 40s tonight, with most areas sticking near or above 50 degrees. That will give us a head start tomorrow and many areas should hit or exceed 80 degrees during the afternoon.
There may be fewer fair-weather clouds tomorrow and more thin cirrus clouds, especially during the afternoon. Without the puffy cumulus clouds, precipitation is not expected. Winds will again be light and variable.
Rain Sneaks Into the Forecast
Clouds will thicken Wednesday night, holding temperatures in the mid and upper 50s. Some light rain may be possible Thursday morning.
If clouds stick around for most of Thursday, temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. If more sun works out though, low and mid 80s will be possible.
Dewpoints will still be low on Thursday but increasing. Afternoon dewpoints will reach into the low and mid 50s. By Friday, dewpoints will rise into the 60s during the afternoon, bringing a bit of mugginess to the air.
Sunshine will mix with clouds on Friday, but a steady south wind will push temperatures into the 80s, anyway.
The warm, humid air will remain this weekend, possibly interacting with a couple of bundles of atmospheric energy. This will keep the chance for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for at least Saturday and Sunday, but possibly into early next week as well.
None of these days look like a washout at this time.
Temperatures will probably retreat some with the added clouds and precipitation. Highs should still at least be in the 70s though, and 80s are not out of the question depending on the timing of these impulses of atmospheric energy.
Starting Thursday night, overnight temperatures will likely stay in the 60s for several days.
Generally warm weather is expected through the end of May with most days probably hitting at least 70 degrees.

Does anyone think we are probably past the last frost here in Ithaca by now?
Meteorologist Drew Montreuil
Given our climatology and the pattern we are entering into, I’d say chances are high (but not 100%) that we have seen the last fronst.
