Scattered Severe
The Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight the Finger Lakes for isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms this afternoon.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop over western New York and western Pennsylvania during the early to mid-afternoon. As the storms move east, they will encounter an environment capable of supporting some storm organization and development.
Isolated to scattered severe storms will thus be possible over the Finger Lakes, and in particular, the eastern two-thirds of the region. The best chance for severe storms will be between 4-7 PM.
A few damaging wind gusts and some hail are the primary threats. Lightning may be somewhat limited.
By the early evening, the storms should move east of the region and weaken as daytime heating is lost.
Most areas will not see severe weather today, but a severe thunderstorm watch and several severe thunderstorm warnings will be possible.
