A storm system will bring snow, cold and strong winds to the Finger Lakes Saturday night into Sunday. A second storm is likely Sunday night into Monday.

It may be April 1st, but the forecast is no joke with snow and bitter cold on the way for the Finger Lakes.

An active weather pattern will keep precipitation in the forecast for most of the next five days. During that time, everything from rain and thunder to widespread accumulating snow will be possible.

Southerly winds between high pressure over the East and low pressure developing over the Midwest will pump warm air back towards the Finger Lakes.

A strong storm will bring a variety of weather to the Finger Lakes on Monday to kick off a windy, active week.

A cold front will quickly send temperatures into the 40s this morning, but mild weather will return quickly this weekend.

Morning precipitation will lift north today, allowing for warmer air to flood in from the southwest.

Temperatures will range from the upper 30s in Rochester to the upper 50s in Elmira on Wednesday.

A few snow showers from a weak disturbance will drift through the Finger Lakes on Monday.

A cold front will spread rain and snow showers across the region on Friday, followed by a cold, but sunny Saturday.

Showers and some thunderstorms will develop again Thursday afternoon ahead of a cold front that will usher in much colder air for the weekend.

A surge of warm air will bring temperatures back to the low 60s this afternoon, along with rain and some thunderstorms.

A persistently unsettled pattern will result in some showers on Tuesday and perhaps some thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday.

An active storm track will keep rain showers in the forecast each day this week.

High pressure will keep the weather quiet across the Finger Lakes this weekend while temperatures remain a bit above normal.

Showers will transition to steadier rain by Thursday afternoon thanks to a cold front.
