Warm air and some rain showers associated with low pressure over the northern Great Lakes will continue across the Finger Lakes on Tuesday.

With little going on in the Finger Lakes this Monday, I thought I would take a moment to show some of the final stats on this weekend’s blizzard that hammered areas to our south.

As expected, a major blizzard striking the Mid-Atlantic region is staying south and east of the Finger Lakes.

High pressure out ahead of a major blizzard has set up shop over the Finger Lakes.

Light lake effect snow continues Thursday across parts of the Finger Lakes. High pressure will put an end to the lake effect, and keep a major snow storm out of our region this weekend.

A very cold air mass continues to produce lake effect snow downwind of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

The coming week is shaping up to be cold and wintry with some areas of intense lake effect snow.

The weather this weekend will be interesting to watch, with dual, intense storm systems passing nearby. However, the Finger Lakes will be sandwiched between these systems with surprisingly  tame results.

A quick moving clipper system will skirt across the region today.

A series of storm systems will impact the Finger Lakes over the coming days, resulting in a brief warm up followed by more wintry weather.

High pressure has moved southeast of the Finger Lakes, which will help temperatures become more tolerable.

High pressure north of the Upper Great Lakes will deliver a shot of very cold air to the Finger Lakes early this week.

A prolonged period of on and off lake effect snow is expected, starting Thursday and lasting through the weekend.

The weather will be fairly quiet across the Finger Lakes on Wednesday.

Dry air entraining into the circulation of low pressure over Michigan has ended the ice threat across the Finger Lakes.

The first Winter Weather Advisories of the season go into effect tonight and into early Tuesday morning.
